Skipping School

Grandma Jo was leaving town this afternoon, so I decided to pull the kids out of school and head to Ames and play around before she had to head home.  The boys are anxiously waiting this new feature to open up!

Parker liked just sitting here quietly by himself.

This goose didn't like us near by as it's on a nest.  It ended up chasing us a ways until I scared it away with my keys.

Have we mentioned that we like to climb trees?

Emery felt left out, so he climbed this rock wall.

The boys love this butterfly.

What a wonderful and exhausting day!

Reading

This morning was nice and quiet and when I got up, I found Parker reading a book to Emery.

Meals From The Heartland

Aiden's cub scout den volunteered at Meals From The Heartland tonight.
These are the hard working boys when we were finished.

Emery spent the night at home with Dad.  Apparently, that means playing on the tablet while in your underwear on the table.....

Spring School Photos

I let the boys wear whatever they want for Spring school pictures because I am not going to buy them....This year, they sure made me laugh.  Emery  is dressed the best, but can't seem to smile.  I think he is still asleep.  Aiden is wearing athletic pants, but is at least smiling.  Parker obviously was asked to tuck in his shirt into his sweatpants.  They made him look slightly classier than he was dressed.  His smile isn't quite there either.  Oh well...they were worth the chuckle.

Emery's Quilt

I finally finished making Emery's quilt and as you can see, he's thrilled!

Style of a 4 Year Old

Emery's sense of style today lead him to wearing one sandal and shoe with both feet without socks.

Easter with the Broadstons

Ready for a Denver Easter Egg hunt.

I followed Aiden.

He was thrilled with his eggs.

Great Grandma came over and had a great time holding Cade.

We did our own Easter egg hunt at home.  Uncle Mike had to search for Cade.

The boys looked all over.

They even had to climb a tree.

Our winner - Leah!

Uncle Mike had to climb a lot higher than the other kids.  It took him the longest to find all of his eggs.

Daddy keeping watch while...
Uncle Mike, Grandma Jo, and myself burned a huge bonfire.  This was a great day to celebrate Easter.

Style

This boy has his very own sense of style.  He really likes these Harry Potter glasses with the one side sticking out sideways!

Des Moines Bound

We decided to get some pool time in this morning before heading back.

Daddy also wanted to stop at Miniature Market again this morning....I don't think we can drive and play a game like he'd like to.....

Heading to St. Louis

It's time to head for home.  We were impressed with this gas stations full case of fried chicken.

Lunch at Lambert's Cafe - home of the throwed rolls.  The boys LOVED this place.

We decided that we would stay in St. Louis on the way home, so that we could spend time at the St. Louis Arch.  However, when we started to get close, we realized that the arch was under construction and this would be the closest we got on this trip.  We'll have to head back to Memphis again soon!

Memphis - Day 4

Aiden hasn't been able to put his Harry Potter books down at all over Spring Break.  This is him at breakfast.

Guess what the boys wanted to do again today...it's a good thing that we became Memphis Zoo members on the first day when we realized that we wouldn't see everything the boys wanted to see.
Back for another round of Pandas.

Last photo until we leave the zoo for the third day!

This afternoon, the boys wanted to do play some miniature golf. The place we went to also had a large arcade and a great deal on playing miniature golf AND arcade games.  As you can tell, the kids had a great time!

Memphis - Day 3

Here come the ducks!  The boys are sitting with all of the children on the other side of the fountain.

The boys are checking out the ducks before coming back to us.

The boys needed some down time, and Daddy wanted to check out the audio tour of Elwood Cemetery.

The boys really wanted to head back to the zoo this afternoon to check out the few things that we missed.  First stop, the reptile house!

The boys sure enjoyed checking out all of the snakes.

Parker was VERY adamant that we check out the Pandas.  He loves pandas!

Can you tell who is who?
